March 7th 2009
The next meeting of the Hershey Apple Core will be held on March 11 at the Hershey Public Library, starting at 6:30 PM.

We’ll start out by taking a look at the latest incarnation of Apple’s web browser, Safari 4. While still in beta, it adds new functionality and breaks some of the old rules. Joel Persing will show you why it will quickly become your favorite option for web surfing.

Even after Dave Marra’s demo of iMovie ‘09 last month, you may still be looking for something more powerful. The next step up the ladder is Apple’s Final Cut Express…but that’s so difficult, right? Chuck Joiner has been using Final Cut Express to author his video podcast, and will demystify some of the basic concepts to get you up and running painlessly. Hint: if you liked iMovie HD, you’ll love FCE.
Don’t forget to skip dinner before the meeting, and then join us at Fuddruckers for our “meeting-after-the-meeting” session of food and further discussion.
Wether it is snowing or sunny, we’ll be at HAC. Hope to see you there.
February 6th 2009
The next meeting of the Hershey Apple Core will be held on February 11 at the Hershey Public Library, starting at 6:30 PM.

HAC is excited to welcome back Mac presenter Dave Marra, Apple Senior Systems Engineer. If you’ve been present when Dave visited us before, you know all about his dynamic, information-filled presentation style. If this will be your first time seeing Dave in action, you’re in for a treat.
Dave’s topic for the evening will be, “iLife and iWork: Do more with your Mac today!”
Rediscover creative new ways to work with digital photos, movies, music and more with iLife ‘09! The new iLife ‘09 suite features exciting new updates to iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand, in addition to iDVD and iWeb. Also, explore how easy and fun word processing, spreadsheets and presentations can be with iWork ‘09. The new iWork ‘09 productivity suite features major updates to Pages, Numbers and Keynote, and all are compatible with Microsoft Office. iWork and iLife, two great ways to work and play, only on a Mac!
Don’t forget about our meeting after the meeting at Fuddruckers. Come join us for an outstanding evening of information and fun.
January 13th 2009
The next meeting of the Hershey Apple Core will be held on January 14 at the Hershey Public Library, starting at 6:30 PM.
Chuck Joiner has recovered (almost) from Macworld Expo and will present his findings, picks and adventures from a week in San Francisco surrounded by Mac people from around the world.
We’ll talk about the new versions of iLife, iWork, the new MacBook Pro 17″, Phil Shiller’s keynote performance, the future of Macworld Expo, show floor picks and much more.
We’ll also have our infamous Question and Answer session, where all your Mac problems get solved, and our Meeting-After-The-Meeting, Macworld edition, at Fuddruckers.
Yes, it is cold outside, but nothing is hotter than the news from Expo. Come out and spend an evening with your HAC friends.

December 7th 2008
The next meeting of the Hershey Apple Core will be held on December 10 at the Hershey Public Library, starting at 6:30 PM.
This month, Joel and chuck will finish up with their top holiday picks, starting with their Top 10 Web site picks and then revealing some last minute gift ideas, just in case last month’s list didn’t quite stuff your stocking. Since this is our last meeting before Macworld Expo, we’ll also talk about what we might or might not see when Steve Jobs takes the keynote stage in San Francisco, and Chuck will show that video that we didn’t get to last month.
We’ll also have our infamous Question and Answer session, where all your Mac problems get solved, and our Meeting-After-The-Meeting, holiday edition, at Fuddruckers.
You could be out fighting holiday crowds, or you could be with all your Mac friends at HAC. From where we sit, its a no-brainer.
Happy Holidays!
November 18th 2008
Joel and Chuck presented their Top 10 hardware and software picks at our November meeting. Didn’t make it? Didn’t take notes? Here are their lists:
November 11th 2008
Our next meeting will be held on November 12 at the Hershey Public Library, starting at 6:30 PM.
Just in time for the holidays, Joel Persing and Chuck Joiner will deliver three top ten lists: software, hardware and web picks, and tell you why. Wondering Mac gifts to give for the holidays? By the end of the evening you’ll have plenty of choices, some of them even free. Join us to compare your picks with theirs.
While you’re making plans, don’t forget our Question and Answer session, where all your Mac problems get solved and our “Meeting-After-The-Meeting” at Fuddruckers.
October 5th 2008
Our next meeting will be held on October 8 at the Hershey Public Library, starting at 6:30 PM.
This month, we’ll talk about some cool topics relating to your digital camera and more. First, wouldn’t it be nice to not have to connect your camera to your Mac to upload your photos? Even better, what if you could send your photos straight from your camera to your Flickr account, MobileMe or any of the other popular photo-sharing sites? Now you can. The Eye-Fi series of digital media cards are Wi-Fi enabled, and can communicate with your Mac or the internet wirelessly. We’ll show you how well it works, some of the extras that come with the Explore version of the Eye-Fi (including automatic geotagging) and more.
After taking those photos, you want to do something cool with them, right? But one can watch only so many iPhoto slide shows. We’ll show you a new service that delivers an amazing new way to see and share your photos. Worried about a learning curve? Don’t be…the process is, quite literaly, point-and-click. Joins us for the October meeting of HAC to find out what it is and how it works.
And don’t forget our always enlightening Question-and-Answer session, the Meeting-After-The-Meeting dinner at Fuddruckers and more.
The Hershey Apple Core is in full swing for Fall. Come on out and be part of the most fun evening of the month for Mac users.
September 6th 2008
After a summer break that seemed to go on forever, The Hershey Apple Core is back for an exciting Fall of informative and fun meetings.
Apple was kind enough to help us out by scheduling their September special event, “Let’s Rock,” the day before, so we’ll be reviewing the announcements and what they mean for your holiday buying season.

Our feature presentation will be about mass storage. Do you think a hard drive is just a hard drive? Wrong! Storage prices have come down dramatically and continue to fall. That means that you can get more for your money than ever, but what to buy? We’ll show off the Data Robotics Drobo, the four-bay storage robot system that takes care of backups and can be upgraded on the fly. We’ll do one of those upgrades live so you can see how easy it is.
We’ll also talk about the difference in transfer speeds between USB 2.0 and an eSATA connection, especially if you’re working with large files (think video).

Finally, we’ll take a look at the brand new Newer Technologies miniStack, the storage option that gives you more than just a hard drive for your money.
Naturally, we’ll have our infamous Question & Answer session and the even more infamous Meeting-After-The-Meeting Dinner at Fuddruckers.
Yep, is has been a long summer. Just think how much you’ve missed your Mac friends at HAC and join us for our September meeting. The Hershey Public Library, starting at 6:30 PM. Be there.
