November 11th 2008
Our next meeting will be held on November 12 at the Hershey Public Library, starting at 6:30 PM.
Just in time for the holidays, Joel Persing and Chuck Joiner will deliver three top ten lists: software, hardware and web picks, and tell you why. Wondering Mac gifts to give for the holidays? By the end of the evening you’ll have plenty of choices, some of them even free. Join us to compare your picks with theirs.
While you’re making plans, don’t forget our Question and Answer session, where all your Mac problems get solved and our “Meeting-After-The-Meeting” at Fuddruckers.
October 5th 2008
Our next meeting will be held on October 8 at the Hershey Public Library, starting at 6:30 PM.
This month, we’ll talk about some cool topics relating to your digital camera and more. First, wouldn’t it be nice to not have to connect your camera to your Mac to upload your photos? Even better, what if you could send your photos straight from your camera to your Flickr account, MobileMe or any of the other popular photo-sharing sites? Now you can. The Eye-Fi series of digital media cards are Wi-Fi enabled, and can communicate with your Mac or the internet wirelessly. We’ll show you how well it works, some of the extras that come with the Explore version of the Eye-Fi (including automatic geotagging) and more.
After taking those photos, you want to do something cool with them, right? But one can watch only so many iPhoto slide shows. We’ll show you a new service that delivers an amazing new way to see and share your photos. Worried about a learning curve? Don’t be…the process is, quite literaly, point-and-click. Joins us for the October meeting of HAC to find out what it is and how it works.
And don’t forget our always enlightening Question-and-Answer session, the Meeting-After-The-Meeting dinner at Fuddruckers and more.
The Hershey Apple Core is in full swing for Fall. Come on out and be part of the most fun evening of the month for Mac users.
September 6th 2008
After a summer break that seemed to go on forever, The Hershey Apple Core is back for an exciting Fall of informative and fun meetings.
Apple was kind enough to help us out by scheduling their September special event, “Let’s Rock,” the day before, so we’ll be reviewing the announcements and what they mean for your holiday buying season.

Our feature presentation will be about mass storage. Do you think a hard drive is just a hard drive? Wrong! Storage prices have come down dramatically and continue to fall. That means that you can get more for your money than ever, but what to buy? We’ll show off the Data Robotics Drobo, the four-bay storage robot system that takes care of backups and can be upgraded on the fly. We’ll do one of those upgrades live so you can see how easy it is.
We’ll also talk about the difference in transfer speeds between USB 2.0 and an eSATA connection, especially if you’re working with large files (think video).

Finally, we’ll take a look at the brand new Newer Technologies miniStack, the storage option that gives you more than just a hard drive for your money.
Naturally, we’ll have our infamous Question & Answer session and the even more infamous Meeting-After-The-Meeting Dinner at Fuddruckers.
Yep, is has been a long summer. Just think how much you’ve missed your Mac friends at HAC and join us for our September meeting. The Hershey Public Library, starting at 6:30 PM. Be there.

April 5th 2008
The next meeting of the Hershey Apple Core will be held on April 9 at the Hershey Public Library from 6:30 PM – 9 PM.
Video will be at the top of this month’s agenda. Whether you’re watching or creating, video remains on of the hottest Mac topic around. The latest version of iMovie, iMovie ‘08, brought with it a ton of controversy over what it can and can’t do. We’ll take a look at iMovie ‘08 from a project perspective, showing you how to access some of the new features and how easy it can be to take even rough footage and produce a polished video product.
If your video habits tend more to “watch” mode, the odds are that you don’t just sit at your Mac to do so. We’ll also talk about preparing video for your Mac, your iPod, your Apple TV or for the web, including a look at several utilities that can help you do it, and the Elgato Turbo.264 hardware utility that can turn almost any Mac into a video converting powerhouse.
Don’t forget to bring any items you want to sell in the GarageSale Nano part of our meeting. Just be sure to check the guidelines before you do.
(We happen to know that there will be at least a LaCie, 52x CD burner w/USB + Firewire cables and an iMaingo iPod speaker system on the table.)
We’ll also have our ever-popular Question and Answer session, our “Meeting-After-The-Meeting” dinner and more.
Spring may or may not have sprung, but you can always count on a night with your HAC friends as being fun and informative. Hope to see you there.
March 2nd 2008
Our next meeting will be held on March 12 at the Hershey Public Library, starting at 6:30 PM.

We’re excited to have Apple Senior Systems Engineer Dave Marra return to HAC. Apple has been quite busy over the past few months, and Dave will bring us all up to date, with a primary focus on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.
If you’ve seen Dave’s dynamic, rapid-fire presentations before, you know this isn’t a meeting you want to miss. If this will be your first dose of Dave, you’re in for a treat. Mark your calendar now and don’t miss the March meeting of the Hershey Apple Core.
February 13th 2008
Sorry folks…while the roads are not too bad now, the temperature is already dropping and with street flooding and more precipitation coming down, we think it is just best to punt tonight’s meeting.
Stay home and rent a movie through your newly updated Apple TV!
February 9th 2008
Our next meeting will be held on February 13 at the Hershey Public Library, starting at 6:30 PM.
Joel Persing and Chuck Joiner spent the full week (and a little more) in San Francisco at Macworld Expo, and will talk about their adventures, the products, the parties, and more. From the line in the keynote to the lights going down on the show floor, you’ll get to share the experience and hear about some of the products that turned the team’s head.
Don’t forget to bring any items you want to sell in the GarageSale Nano part of our meeting. Just be certain to check the guidelines before you do.
You can expect a raffle prize or two, our attempt to solve all your Mac-related problems in our Question & Answer session, the “Meeting After The Meeting” dinner at Fuddruckers and whatever else comes up (and something always seems to come up).
January 6th 2008
Our next meeting will be held on January 9 at the Hershey Public Library, starting at 6:30 PM. The topics will include:
“What I Tricked Santa into Bringing Even Though I Really Didn’t Deserve It”
One of the HAC officers (we won’t say who, to preserve the safety of the guilty) will discuss his holiday Mac gifts, and we invite all HAC members to bring along theirs for a group show-and-tell session.
Macworld Expo Preview
With Macworld and the Keynote only 6 days away, we will discuss the show and conference tracks, and of course, the HAC “Top Ten Things We Want to See at the Keynote and What We Will Most Likely Get.”
The NewerTech USB 2.0 Universal Drive Adapter
Need some extra storage for long-term backups or data storage but want to keep the cost down? We’ll show you the NewerTech USB 2.0 Universal Drive Adapter, a hardware adapter that lets you connect a raw hard drive (one without a case) to your Mac.
Of course, we’ll also have our ever-popular Question and Answer Session, the “Meeting After the Meeting” dinner at Fuddruckers, and undoubtedly a surprise or two.
See you at HAC!
