No February Meeting: What Happened to HAC?

February 7th 2010

Macworld 2010
Sorry folks…there’s no meeting of the Hershey Apple Core in February. No, we didn’t prognosticate the weather (though that would have been a really great story to tell you).

Both Chuck and Joel will be in San Francisco for Macworld 2010, and in spite of the dozens of volunteers we had to lead the meeting, we just couldn’t make a choice.

We’ll be back on schedule in March with a report from the year’s biggest and best Mac event, the latest on Apple’s iPad and much more. See you then!

January 13: Meeting: The Best iPhone Apps

January 10th 2010

iPhone
The next meeting of the Hershey Apple Core will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Hershey Public Library, starting at 6:30 PM.

This month, we’ll take a look at the very best iPhone apps. With more than 100,000 choices in the iTunes App Store, it can be a challenge to decide which apps to invest in. We’ll show you some of our favorites in a wide variety of categories as well as a few iPone tips you may have missed. We’ll also be asking you to reveal your favorite apps and what they do for you.

What would a HAC meeting be without our always popular Question and Answer Session, and our Meeting-After-The-Meeting dinner at Fuddruckers? Come out and join us for our first meeting of the new year…and the new decade.

The December meeting of The Hershey Apple Core will not only give you some ideas, but also provide you with the opportunity to share yours as well. Have a gift that you think is worth giving or getting? Bring along your list.

We’ll also have our ever-popular Question & Answer session, and a special holiday version of the Meeting-After-The-Meeting at Fuddruckers where all of the HAC officers will be dressed as Santa Claus. (No, not really, but it will be fun anyway.)

Come celebrate the holidays the Mac way, with your friends at HAC.

This month, we’ll take a look at a variety of cool pieces of hardware for Mac, iPhone and beyond. No, we’re not going to tell you, you’ll have to come and see, but rest assured that there will be something for everyone.

If all goes as planned, we’ll also demonstrate a new video conferencing and recording option that is available to anyone, live with a Mac luminary from the West. Want to know who? You’ll have to join us to find out.

All that, our always-popular Question and Answer session, and the Meeting-After-The-Meeting Dinner. What else are you going to do on a Wednesday night that will be half as much fun?

Find out how Joel equipped himself for the trip, and how it all worked out.

In addition, we will have our regular Q&A session about all things Apple. Come out and enjoy an evening with your Mac friends at HAC.

We’ll take a look at Apple’s “It’s Only Rock & Roll, But We Like It” event, what was announced, and what it may mean to you. Then, we’ll show you a cool new way to find great applications for your Mac, as well as keep them up-to-date.

Finally, we’ll take a look at Apple’s new cat, Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. Even though it is billed as not having any new features, there are plenty of changes and enhancements that make it will worth the $30 upgrade. We’ll give you a tour.

You’ve been waiting all summer to ask, so we’ll also hold our ever-popular question-and-answer session, and, of coure, the Meeting-After-The-Meeting at Fuddruckers, so bring your appetite.

September’s here – time to kick your Mac habit back into high gear with HAC.

During the discussions at our monthly meetings, we’re always surprised by the things we think everyone knows, but don’t know. Our April meeting is dedicated to showing some of those things…tips, hints, one-trick ponies, methods, products and services that everyone should know to get more out of their Apple hardware. Join Joel Persing for a look at ways to do things faster, better and easier, whether you knew you wanted to do them or not.

We’ll solve all your problems (OK, your *Mac* problems) in our Question and Answer Session, and have a ball at our meeting-after-the-meeting dinner at Fuddruckers. Join us for an evening of Mac fellowship and fun.

March 11 Meeting: Safari 4 First Look and an Introduction to Final Cut Express

March 7th 2009

The next meeting of the Hershey Apple Core will be held on March 11 at the Hershey Public Library, starting at 6:30 PM.

Safari
We’ll start out by taking a look at the latest incarnation of Apple’s web browser, Safari 4. While still in beta, it adds new functionality and breaks some of the old rules. Joel Persing will show you why it will quickly become your favorite option for web surfing.

Final Cut Express
Even after Dave Marra’s demo of iMovie ‘09 last month, you may still be looking for something more powerful. The next step up the ladder is Apple’s Final Cut Express…but that’s so difficult, right? Chuck Joiner has been using Final Cut Express to author his video podcast, and will demystify some of the basic concepts to get you up and running painlessly. Hint: if you liked iMovie HD, you’ll love FCE.

Don’t forget to skip dinner before the meeting, and then join us at Fuddruckers for our “meeting-after-the-meeting” session of food and further discussion.

Wether it is snowing or sunny, we’ll be at HAC. Hope to see you there.
