May 13, 2015 Meeting: Apple Watch, Real Backup Strategies and Mac Maintenance

The next meeting of the Hershey Apple Core will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, starting at 6:30 PM at The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania, 4750 Lindle Road Harrisburg, PA 17111. Directions to the meeting can be found on the HAP web site.

Our May meeting will be our last before the Summer Break, so we want to leave you with lots of information to get you through to the Fall.

First, we’ll look at the latest product in Apple’s line, the Apple Watch. Did you get one? Do you have one ordered? There will be at least one at the meeting so you can see it firsthand. Find out what the owner(s) think about having information of many kinds on their wrist, and whether you should be the next to slip one on.

Backups are always a popular topic, since it is something that everyone knows they should do, but so many don’t. We’ll give you tips on making it simple but effective, no matter how much effort you want or don’t want to put into it.

Another always popular topic is Mac maintenance. If we have time, we’ll take you through a few simple things you can do to keep your Mac running smoothly.

The evening will wrap with our Meeting-After-The-Meeting Dinner, so plan to join us from start to finish.

April 8, 2015 Meeting: Topic TBA

The next meeting of the Hershey Apple Core will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, starting at 6:30 PM at The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania, 4750 Lindle Road Harrisburg, PA 17111. Directions to the meeting can be found on the HAP web site.

HAC is back after a couple months of meeting cancellations, bad weather, health problems and the indignity of a web site hack. We will catch up on all the latest Apple news (and boy, is there a ton of it!), solve the problems you’ve been saving for us and in general have a great time getting back togoether.

Don’t forget the “Meeting-After-The-Meeting” dinner, where even more great information and conversation can be had.

We look forward to seeing you back at HAC.

January 14, 2015 Meeting – CES Review and New Year’s Tech Resolutions

The next meeting of the Hershey Apple Core will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, starting at 6:30 PM at The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania, 4750 Lindle Road Harrisburg, PA 17111. Directions to the meeting can be found on the HAP web site.

Chuck will be back (and hopefully healthy) from CES in Las Vegas, and will share updates on some of the best Apple-related tech at the show. With Macworld on hiatus, more Apple-specific vendors and authors are expected at this show, so there will be plenty to talk about.

We’ll also do a little setting of tech New Year’s resolutions, and cover how to get there. Better password security, better backups, learning new skills, tapping into new resources are just a few of the things that are appropriate at this time of year, so let’s do it and make 2015 the best it can be, powered by your Apple tech.

Of course, problems of all sorts will be solved in our Question and Answer session, and the Meeting-After-The-Meeting Dinner will continue the fun, so plan to come early and stay late with your friends at HAC.

PLEASE NOTE: There is the possibility of inclement weather for this meeting. As much as we enjoy our monthly get-togethers, they aren’t worth anyone’s safety. If there’s any question in your mind, please check the web site. We’ll make a go/no-go decision no later than 5 PM, post a message here, and also send out a notice to the HAC email list.

December 10, 2014 Meeting – Cool iOS Apps Roundup and Holiday Cheer

The next meeting of the Hershey Apple Core will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, starting at 6:30 PM at The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania, 4750 Lindle Road Harrisburg, PA 17111. Directions to the meeting can be found on the HAP web site.

This month, we’ll be looking at some of the coolest iOS apps around. If we told you what they were, then there wouldn’t be any surprise, would there? Rest assured, there will be something for everyone, free and paid. Find out what to give your iPhone and iPad (and yourself) for the holidays in this fun example of interesting apps…and be sure to bring along a list of what you’re using and what you want to recommend to the group.

The meeting will start with our world-famous Question and Answer session where we try to solve all your problems (and sometimes, you solve ours!). We’ll also break a little earlier than normal to enjoy a little holiday cheer in our Meeting-After-The-Meeting dinner. Hope you can join us!
