The holiday shopping season is almost upon us (what? AGAIN?), and it is time to shop for the tech lovers in our lives…and maybe pick up a little something for ourselves. We’ll talk about some holiday gift ideas – ours and yours – that are Apple-related but not all from Apple. We’ll also talk about what iOS 8 brings to the table in the way of new functions, take a look at who’s got an iPhone 6 and why, and clue you in on some great utilities to help you get through the holiday crush.
Of course, all your non-holiday problems will be solved in our Question and Answer session, and you will be nourished at our Meeting-After-The-Meeting Dinner.
See you at HAC!

NOTE: THIS IS TWO WEEKS LATER AND ON TUESDAY than our regular meeting!
Sorry for the schedule roulette folks, but presenter and meeting space scheduling dictated a change this month, so put it on your calendar as a one-off change.
This month, in addition to taking our questions in our thrill-a-minute Question-and-Answer Session, we’ll look at some cool utilities that anyone and everyone can use to get more done faster, better. No, we won’t tell you what they are, you have to come to find out, but you will leave with something you can use.
We’ll also look at the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in the flesh…er…silicon, the goods, the not-so-goods and more. And don’t believe all those <insert-paranoid-name-here>-gates. They are great phones.
Who knows? We might even have more Apple news to talk about by then.
And of course, the meeting-after-the-meeting dinner will be held…after the meeting. Plan to come dine with us.

September 7th 2014
The next meeting of the Hershey Apple Core will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, starting at 6:30 PM at The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania, 4750 Lindle Road Harrisburg, PA 17111. Directions to the meeting can be found on the HAP web site.
The Hershey Apple Core is back, kicking off our Fall 2014 season with a huge double-header!
Apple was kind enough to schedule their “We Wish We Could Tell You More” event for the day before our meetings, so we will have our usual insightful analysis of whatever happens on Tuesday. New iPhone? New iPhones? New iPads? A wearable? HomeKit devices? The field is wide open, but whatever is shown, it is sure to be exciting.
A topic that seems to come up frequently is keeping your Mac healthy. We’ll talk about what you need to do to keep your Mac humming along smoothly, and what to do if something does happen and you need to take a little tech medicine. We’ll walk you through some of the utilities that can make the difference.
The usual Q&A session will most likely expand since we haven’t been together for some time, and we hope the same will happen with our “Meeting-After-The-Meeting” dinner.
Plan to make an evening of it and get back into the tech habit with HAC.

Our very special guest will be Bob “Dr. Mac” LeVitus, who will be finishing up his annual Mid-Atlantic MUG Tour.
This year, Bob’s message is, “Since I have no idea what will actually be in my 2014 Mid-Atlantic User Group Tour presentation — and I probably won’t know a week before the first meeting — here’s what I can promise:
- Products that are awesome
- Things that are not awesome
- Demos of cool stuff
- Video of ???
- Bad jokes
- Puerile wordplay
- And more
To give our guest the maximum amount of time, we will dispense with our usual Question and Answer session, so get there early for a good seat.
Our Meeting-After-The-Meeting will feature not only Dr. Mac, but also other out of town guests, so we hope you will join us. If you plan to do so, please let us know via email so we can give the restaurant a rough count.
This will be our final meeting for the Spring, and there’s no better way to wrap up than with Bob, so make plans now.
April 4th 2014

HAC is back in action this month with a wrap-up and video review of some of the best of Macworld/iWorld 2014 in San Francisco.
Also, since we missed last month, our team of experts will answer every single question you put to them. OK, so maybe not every single question, but they’ll do their best to put you on the right path.
Of course, the Meeting-After-The-Meeting Dinner will follow the meeting, so come hungry.
And get ready, because Bob “Dr. Mac” LeVitus is coming back in May, as part of his annual Mid-Atlantic MUG Tour.
For a change, no weather problems, so come out and spend the evening with your HAC friends.
March 10th 2014
Sorry folks, but schedules and other commitments have taken their toll on our March meeting. Not only wouldn’t we have a presenter, but we wouldn’t have a meeting place that would be available.
So take this opportunity to spend a quiet evening watching it snow, and backing up your Mac, running your regular maintenance, or watching something inspiring on Apple TV. We’ll let you know about April.
February 10th 2014
The next meeting of the Hershey Apple Core will be held on Wednesday, February 12 2014, starting at 6:30 PM at The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania, 4750 Lindle Road Harrisburg, PA 17111. Directions to the meeting can be found on the HAP web site.
We’re going to try it again, folks. After having to cancel January’s meeting, we’re on track for a great February meeting, and hope you’ll join us.
However, there are projections out there for more snow Wednesday into Thursday. We’ll be watching the weather very carefully, since we don’t want anyone out traveling if there are concerns your safety. We’ll make the call on cancellation if necessary no later than 5 PM, post it here, and also sent out an email blast to our email list.
This month, Chuck will deliver an in-person report on CES and New Media Expo (and maybe Storage Visions) if he has recovered from the sleep deprivation. We’ll also talk about some of the best travel apps and services that help keep you informed as you jet from city to city and country to country, and some essential apps that, if you don’t have, you should.
And yes, we’ll have our always-growing Question and Answer session, and our Meeting-After-The-Meeting Dinner, so put the changed date on your calendar now and don’t miss the first HAC meeting of 2014!
